The turanganui festival
Hi my name is Leo and today I am going to be telling you about the turanganui festival (the kapa haka festival). The kapa haka festival is a place where you sing,do the pukana,do the actions,do the poi and many more.Without these things in kapa haka it is nothing. It is about proving who we are.You can do kapa haka at school, with your friends and even yourself. At wainui beach school we do kapa haka 1 time every year.We did ours on 18th november 2020(wednesday).
I woke up from bed in a pretty decent surprize.MEAW! my cat meows exactly in my ear.WHAT DAY IS IT! I screamed."wednesday my dad replied"The kapa haka festival! I raced my cat(lily)to the closet and put my clothes on as fast as I could and I went to school before 8am and went to go get my moko.A moko is sort of a face paint but it is more traditional than a normal face paint. we went to the stadium by the mammoth bus.I sat with my friend(Vinne) on the backseat of the bus.It felt like the bus was tipping one way to another.I was shivering. It neary felt like I had a frostbite. When we arrived at the turanganui festival(tf). When we went on stage it was so nerve racking. Our haka was so loud that my eardrums nearly came off.
I felt so passionate when I sang. Soon when we went of stage we watched kindergarteners sing and than we watched our little class.
